Hellfire Corner 400

HFC17

Start:         Dingwall

Date:          Friday 7 June 2024

Time :         22:00

For those interested, start with an Indian meal from 8pm and meet some of the other riders in a relaxed environment.

It’s a ride into the remote and stunning northwest corner of Scotland passing through desolate Sutherland on the way. The ride heads up the coast from the start in Dingwall through Easter Ross to Helmsdale before turning inland for an early hours saunter through Scotland’s Klondike (spot Baile an Or where there was a Victorian Gold Rush) to Kildonan Village Hall for some nourishment & 40 winks. Continue through Sutherland passing some of the clearance villages where local Gaelic communities were brutally cleared from the land during the Highland Clearances some 250 years ago, to join the NC500 tourist route west along the north coast towards Cape Wrath and tack around Loch Eribol (or Loch ‘Orrible for those who’ve ridden round it in challenging windy conditions) before heading south through the stunning scenery of Assynt towards Ullapool. After some much needed rest and refreshment the route heads back across the watershed to the east coast and the arrivée in Dingwall.  Coasts, hills, wind, stunning scenery and a bunch of friendly and helpful volunteers guaranteed!
